The Cherohala Skyway, a 43-mile high-mountain road, connects Robbinsville, North Carolina, with Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

it’s a beautiful but little used road with trails that see even less use. On the North
Carolina side the hikes are short, all coming back to the Skyway. The road has been
compared with the Blue Ridge Parkway, but it has much less traffic than the Parkway and its views are not obstructed by signs of civilization.

Trailhead: From Robbinsville at the intersection of NC 143 and NC 129, take NC 143 west for 12.2 miles and turn left on the Skyway at Santeetlah Gap. Drive the Skyway and stop at all the well-marked trailheads.
