Whiteside Mountain

The summit of Whiteside Mountain reaches an elevation of over 4,900 ft., rising more than 2,000 ft. above Whiteside Cove to the south. The short clockwise loop climbs gently on an old roadbed and come down quickly on a steep trail, with numerous panoramic views from rock outcrops and cliffs. This is a National Recreation Trail, so you can expect more visitors and more amenities than the average forest trail.

Trailhead: From Cashiers, drive west for 4.8 miles on US 64 and make a left on Whiteside Mountain Rd. (SR 1690). Drive a mile to the parking area on the left.
