Tanawha Trail

Danny on Tanawha Trail

This hike takes in a spectacular section of the Tanawha Trail from Stack Rock parking area to Raven Rocks Overlook, where you’ll go past gigantic boulders, climb up and down steps, and enjoy 360-degree views, including Grandfather Mountain, within a fragile ecosystem. You’ll pass the Linn Cove Information Station and walk beneath the famous and controversial Linn Cove Viaduct. With all the rocks and steps, you’ll probably go a lot slower than the average hiking speed of two miles per hour.
