Chapter 4 sample - Linville Gorge and Linville Falls
Several areas have the name “Linville,” which can be confusing. Linville Falls Recreation Area, managed by the Blue Ridge Parkway, has several moderate trails with outstanding views of the falls and river.
Linville Gorge Wilderness Area (see picture above) is formed by Linville Mountain on the west and Jonas Ridge on the east. Some call this rugged gorge the Grand Canyon of the East. The Wilderness Area is part of the Grandfather District of Pisgah National Forest.
