Five Falls Loop in Dupont State Forest
You can do a long loop which takes in five outstanding waterfalls in Dupont State Forest. The three popular falls – Hooker, High and Triple – attract a lot of visitors. The other two, Wintergreen and Grassy Creek, require a little more walking and therefore will have more solitude.
On the way, you climb to a ridge in the northern part of the Forest which gets fewer hikers. Dupont has a myriad number of trails but they are all signposted.
Because Dupont is a multiple use forest (hiking, biking and horses), the trails look like they are constantly under maintenance – gravel to patch up a section of trail and logs from freshly cut trees to be waiting to be collected. As a hiker, remember to give way to horses and watch out for bikers.
